18/01/2011:
Please continue to remember John and his family in your prayers as he recovers following his recent operation.
The following are two of the emails sent by or on behalf of John during his recovery and John wanted to share these with all those who prayed and continue to pray for him and his family.
Email from John today 18/01/2012:
Dear Friends
May I thank you for your ongoing prayers for myself and my family!
Just a little update:
After visiting the oncologist, which was a positive meeting it was, decided that I should have a course of chemotherapy to ensure there are no nasty cells anywhere in my body. I will be having four cycles of three week of chemotherapy.
I have had my first course of chemo yesterday a long day (8hours) which passed well? How do I feel today? That is hard to answer just that I am not quite at myself.
Please do remember me over the next few months and that I will cope well with the Chemotherapy and it’s side effects and Janet, Andrew Matthew and Daniel that they will be able to cope with me!
Once again thank you for your prayers we serve a wonderful Lord who answers them.
Will be in touch
God Bless
John
Previous Email from John:
Dear friends
May I thank you for your prayers for my family and me over the past month and also to those who phoned, emailed and text. I think I have been able to answer most of them but if I have missed you please forgive me.
The past few weeks have been difficult and painful but what a sense of God’s presence I have had with me. He has carried me through, and of course His people praying for me has meant so much.
p>I am improving daily; I have been able to cut down on the pain killers and am feeling stronger each day. Thank the Lord!
I have also received my pathology results which were a surprise as I was told the tumour was cancer.
After the initial shock Janet and I were told the full details all of which were good news. It was a primary cancer, it was at an early stage and it was confined to the one lobe of the lung which had been completely removed.
My next appointment is with an oncologist in the City Hospital on Thursday, I will let you know how I get on.
Please continue to pray for me, Janet and the boys; Andrew, Matthew and Daniel, praising and giving thanks for a successful surgery and a steady recovery and that the cancer is gone! Please do remember me in the days and weeks ahead.
Our Lord is in control, I am in His hands! There is no better place to be and with the prayers of His people it will not be long before I am back serving Him. I do look forward to the LIFT teams going out this year and I’m sure it will not be to long before I am on another team.
Once again I do THANK you all for your prayers; we serve a wonderful God who answers them.
May God bless and guide you as you serve Him in 2012.
John
Email issued by Andrew:
Dear Friends
Thank you for your prayers for my dad over the last few weeks. He has had his operation, is now home and is improving. Please continue to pray that he makes a good recovery and he receives good news from his results.
Andrew
Email issued by Andrew:
Hi all, just a quick up-date on my dad.
He had his operation yesterday afternoon and the surgeons were able to successfully remove part of the lung. When he came round his blood pressure was a little low but this has now normalised. Today he was able to sit of bed and even managed a few steps up and down the ward. He is in a little pain but all in all doing well and the medical staff are all very happy with his progress.
Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts at this time and please continue to pray for a speedy recovery.

First Email issued by John:
Dear friend
Greetings from LIFT
I will appreciate your prayers over the next few days and weeks.
I have been attending the hospital for the past year concerning my persistent cough. I have had many tests carried out, most of which were clear, but finally resulted in the discovery of a benign tumour in my lung.
I will be going into hospital to have it removed on Tuesday 6th December. Please remember me in your prayers, asking that the Lord will guide the surgeon, for good care in the hospital, for a quick and full recovery, and that when the tumour is tested it will indeed be benign. Please also remember my wife Janet and my three sons Andrew, Matthew and Daniel at this time.
Thank you
Yours in His service
John
