Democratic Republic of Congo

Post Project Review
In 1879 Belgium colonised the Congo, this was the start of foreign powers exploitation of Congo and it vast mineral wealth. Millions of Congolese are said to have been killed or worked to death in the first 30 years of Belgium rule. In the next 50 years Belgium continued to plunder the wealth of this densely forested country.
Finally in 1960 Congo gained it independence but the fortunes of it's people did not change. Two presidents were murdered and another amassed a fortune of some $4 billion. At least four coup attempts have been made and a war between 1997 and 2002 claimed four million lives. Then you have to add the poverty, famine and Aids. What hope has this country got!
During our project in the now Democratic Republic of Congo we saw hope; it is the church in Kisangani. Our brothers and sisters in the Lord who worship and follow the Lord with all their lives have a secure future, they have hope, they have salvation and they want to share the good news of the gospel with others.
The Church wanted a radio station to reach out to the people of Kisangani. That radio station is now broadcasting the good news of the gospel and people are turning to the Lord through it.
