Macedonia

Post Project Review
The Ministry for Europe Trust is a Christian charity formed in 1993 and now works in eleven European countries. Their work in Macedonia is in many forms throughout the whole country.
They had a vision to extend this to a small mountain village called Selce. Before taking the good news into this village they believed it only right they should respond to a social need there.
The village school was a one-room classroom in very poor condition. Broken windows and cracked doors being the early indicators of further problems which included rotten flooring and no electricity supply in the school. Electricity has just reached this village lately.
Ministry for Europe Trust wanted to work with the people of this Muslim village and in partnership with them, LIFT set out to refurbish the school building. The LIFT team would, dare I say, be like John the Baptist preparing the way for the work of Brother Jimmy and Ministry for Europe Trust in Selce. The village elders had agreed to allow the children of the village to receive a children’s Bible if we helped with refurbishment of the school building..
The work was hard and the temperatures high, up to 40 degrees on one blistering day, but there was more than simply bricks and mortar, plaster and paint; there was the forging of relationships with the people of Selce. This started with the children who were curious then excited by what was happening. By the end of our two-week period the adults were coming to check on our progress and one even brought us Turkish coffee on several occasions. Praise God that the language barrier is no barrier to His love.
On the last day on-site, a party was held for the children and we gave out toys, pencils, pens. The real reason for the work at the school house was realised when each child was given their own children's Bible in the Macedonian language.
